I participated in the trial of this product. It is very cool - and it was neat getting an email every night (you can setup multiple alerts for various times of the day) showing where my car was. Some days it had the address correct but others it was off by a house or two.
OnStar indicated in the trial info that if they decide to offer the service in the future there would be a charge for it - so if they are reconsidering including it in the subscription cost that would be great. I am not sure what $ extra I would want to pay for it otherwise.
Every few times you start the car it announced that FamilyLink tracking was activated - so you can't install it on someone's car and monitor them without them knowing about it.

This is great... It is a step in right direction, though not without pitfalls... One impediment to going paperless is the "low battery" syndrome.... Student needs to take notes in class and his tablet is out of juice... still has to take notes, or worse, a test that is electronic... Paper is still the fallback...

In South Carolina, not only are they not teaching cursive, but they aren't teaching proper typing anymore either. When I was in elementary school I learned cursive in Georgia, but once I moved to South Carolina I took keyboarding courses along with PE, art and music. Now where I live (which granted is not where I grew up) it's called computer lab and the kids play games to boost their test scores rather than actually learning how to type efficiently.
My daughter said that in the third grade they started learning cursive, but when they got to the capital letters they just stopped with no explanation and never picked it up again. On top of all that, she is left handed and never got instructed on the differences between left and right handwriting either. She's now in the fifth grade and hates writing by hand. I am going to have to step in and teach her all that myself now.

Bill, you identify the problem many agencies have, finding enough time for marketing and sales. I believe the solution is to implement a more aggressive marketing automation process within the agency to help manage prospecting and marketing activities. Automating the follow-up and follow-through when you are working with the prospect can greatly enhance your ability to stay in touch with them so that when they are ready to buy, they will think of you.
Unfortunately right now this is not an easy process. Most agency management systems have not built in marketing automation processes to their systems.

Time seems to be the largest item that we get robbed of. After we gather the required info to do a quote, we input that into our comparative rater (EZLynx), find the best 3 companies, then finalize it with the company sites. We use Hawksoft as our AMS. We also use Astonish Website along with our own website as a service and sales site.
How can we streamline our process and find more sales time?
Thanks
Bill
PS - Thanks for all the Great Info.

I think it has taken too long for management systems to integrate with other service providers; this is a huge step in the right direction. Certified and Registered email systems are exactly what agencies need and this can provide solid documentation of email notices on coverage recommendations, cancellation warnings and everything in between.
